Trail Blazers
is for children age 5-6 who are preparing for Chinese or international elementary school. The program encompasses a review of all previous skills (Age 2-5 years) with an emphasis on writing and reading. Our teacher Andy from England is an experienced athlete and has over a decade of experience teaching English.

Trailblazers Class Weekly Programming

Morning ’Hello’ song and morning greeting activity during morning circle time and ‘Goodbye’ song and goodbye greeting activity during afternoon circle time.

Body Smart

 

To be introduced to and learn the names of a range of sports balls and to throw, bounce, catch and kick these balls to a teacher (in the multi-purpose room or on the playground).

 

Logic Smart

 

To use a toy clock and understand how to tell the time (to the hour and half hour) and introduce the classroom’s clock which does not have any numbers on it and attempt to tell the time on that clock.

Word Smart

 

To introduce ’Word of the Day’ to the class and for  the children to identify to the teacher when this word has been uttered. Also, to cartoon and write down in sequence what you did at the weekend for the Mid-Autumn Festival.

 

Nature Smart

 

To continue to identify the status of the weather each morning and to identify the main characteristics and parts of the toy animals we have in the classroom.

Music Smart

 

To continue to learn and sing the ‘Hello’ and ‘Goodbye’ songs and to learn another song for the Singing Circle.

Design Smart

 

To draw a map of the area which covers your home and the school identifying significant landmarks/buildings.

Learning Centres

 

Building/Construction: To build the Lego Farm or build a structure using blocks, discs or tubing.

 

Reading: To select a book a book of your choice from the classroom bookshelf or library that tells a story about a child and begin to read it if possible.

 

Art: To draw a picture using paint, crayons, pens or pencils to illustrate your home and family.

 

Puzzle: To piece together a jigsaw of your choice.

 

 

Cooking

 

To liaise with the other foreign teachers regarding this.



Field Trips:

 

Not this week but forthcoming in late September.

Special Events:

 

Parents’ Evening/Mid-Autumn Festival Play on Tuesday, 9th September at 6.00pm. I will meet with Joy’s parents to discuss her progress but will also provide a briefing on the Trailblazers Class as well as it’s routine and structure. I will also play a part in the play as will Joy.
